Black Willow

Handmade Tribal Bellydance Accessories

Black Willow offers handmade Tribal Bellydance accessories, handmade to your personal specification. For more information and products visit the Black Willow website

All items are crafted individually and I take great care to ensure that no design is ever exactly reproduced (unless that’s what your Tribe wants….)

Custom items are my favourite thing to make and what follows are pictures and approximate prices. You can make an order that’s as vague as, “A belt that costs £**”, or you can be more precise and tell me what you’d like to spend, what colours you want and what particular elements you’d like included….

In order to keep postage costs down I can use recycled CDs instead of glass mirrors as they weigh
so much less. Please let me know if you have a preference!

All prices for all items are approximate, but won’t differ hugely when it comes to your piece.
Please note that postage and packing are NOT included in the price.

CONTACT ME: blackwillow@talktalk.net or call 07914 315627.

Shisha (mirrors), coins, shells, fabric patches and a pendant costs £40.00. Tassels can be added, as can anything else you desire.
Belts
Shisha, braid, tassels, pompoms and lots of shells costs £55.00. The belts pictured included shell disc necklaces (subject to availability).
Shown left are variations of the design….
The three designs to the right are priced at £35.00 and include elements such as ribbon, braid, coins, tassels, pompoms and buttons.

This fringed belt with coins, large tassels,
pompom, fabric embellishments and
hand embroidery costs £70.00.

Unseen and within the fringing are bells
and shell discs.

A similar custom belt to the one shown right will cost £90.00.
A similar custom belt (shown left) will cost £75.00
A custom belt similar to this one will cost £50.00.
A belt similar to this (shown left) will cost £65.00

Red Rajasthani embroidery belt costs £45.00.

Simple design Indigo Rajasthani embroidery belt costs £18.00.

Headbands, Braids and Falls

A simple headband with decoration and one flower either side will cost £12.50.

All headbands have elasticated ties to ensure a good fit.

This headband includes multiple flowers, braids, coins and Colinette Point 5 Wool braids with cowrie shell accents.

One similar to this will cost £17.50.

There are two items here – there’s a multiple flower headband with silver coloured decoration. The headband costs £15.00.

Detachable braids, decorated with wraps, coins, shells and bells cost £15.00 per pair.

Headbands can also be made with Colinette Point 5 wool falls, embellished with shells, bells, coins and beads. Headband with falls attached from £40.00.

Shell stands can be tied into your hair, attached to a belt or any other way you care to use them. Short strands cost from £17.50 per pair, longer ones from £22.00.

Similarly, cowrie falls can be added to hair or belts. The two pairs shown have bead and coin accents. Falls shown cost £22.00.

Shorter falls cost from £17.50.

Other Items Available…

I’ve no pictures, but do offer a range of “Starter Belts” – very basic but eye-catching, using a length of “ethnic” styled ribbon and a row of tassels. Good for practice and the shy! You can add jewellery and other items as you explore Tribal costuming.

Starter Belts cost £15.00.

Shown right is a belt made from pieces of embroidery and large tassels. The embroidery fragments available defined the shape of the belt. Please enquire about a similar belt.

The Kuchi jewellery was purchased from an Internet vendor. Whilst I cannot Import this kind of jewellery at a competitive price I can make vendor recommendations.

Also just seen are wool and acrylic hair falls, embellished with shells, coins, wraps and bells. Please enquire if interested. Prices from £25.00. Falls are mounted on elastic or stretchy fabric ties to attach to a ponytail.

Jewellery items are sometimes available – handmade chokers using Asian embroidery fragments, decorated with shells or bells or coins or whatever I can find. Similarly, necklaces are occasionally available too. Please enquire about what’s in stock.

A (few) Word(s) About Costuming…

Celebrate being a beautiful, powerful woman and the power will resonate from within.

Be brave and eclectic when choosing Tribal Bellydance costume pieces. Pile on the rings, jewellery, scarves and other items you love to wear but that are too “in your face” for everyday.

Use the elements you like and you’ll eventually adapt them to your own style.

Don’t be tempted to “match” items exactly (as an example the Red Flower custom belt and headband with Colinette braids were made to match – all that really matches was the red and green theme…), that’s best left to the cabaret outfits.

Don’t skimp on the make-up – you don’t need to look freakish, just strong and commanding! Ensure that your make-up is as strong as your other costume elements.
